Highland Light Infantry - Officer's Shoulder Belt Plate (Silver/Gilt), Post-1902
The plate features a seeded gilt backplate with the Star of the Order of the Thistle mounted in silver.
A gilt Imperial crown is positioned above a silver curled bugle horn with the "HLI" monogram in the center.
Beneath the horn is a gilt scroll inscribed "ASSAYE", referencing the regiment's service in India.
An elephant motif is positioned below the scroll, further commemorating their distinction at the Battle of Assaye.
The HLI was formed in 1881 by the amalgamation of the 71st and 74th Foot Regiments.
